SGDF youth will go to Kobanê and reconstruct the city, carry out cleaning activities, build a memorial forest and build a library.

Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) which has been leading the “We defended Kobanê together, we will build it together!” campaign will go to Kobanê and work in the town’s reconstruction between July 19-24. SGDF members will rebuild the museum built by Rıfat Horoz (Karker Kobanê) who fell as martyr recently.

Tens of young people participating in the SGDF campaign will help clean the city, work in hospitals, build a memorial forest for fallen martyrs, construct a library and children’s park, and complete the museum that was built by Rıfat Horoz (Karker Kobanê) who fell as martyr recently.

'WE COULD NOT JUST STAND BY AND WATCH THIS STRUGGLE'

SGDF Co-President Oğuz Yüzgeç spoke to ANF and said that they launched the campaign because of the destruction that took place in Kobanê, and said that they could not just stand by and watch this struggle.

Yüzgeç emphasized that the values Kobanê represents are also the values of Gezi resistance, and the communes in Gezi were similar to the ones that exist in Kobanê. Yüzgeç added that their campaign aims to show that Kobanê was not alone and the children of Gezi stood with Kobanê.

YOUNG PEOPLE ARE HIGHLY INTERESTED

Yüzgeç stated that their activities would not be based on representation and include the participation of hundreds of young people. Yüzgeç said that approximately 400 young people have applied to SGDF so far in order to join the campaign and work in Kobanê. SGDF youth will plant 500 trees in Kaniya Kurda and create a memorial forest in order to commemorate Kobanê martyrs. Yough people will also create a park in the garden of a building that is currently used as a pre-school and name this garden after the MLKP fighter Emre Aslan who died during the defense of Kobanê.

Socialist youth will also build a library in Kobanê Culture and Arts Center and name it after Rojava martyr Suphi Nejat Ağırnaslı. Young people will carry out medical screening and check-ups in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. BEKSAV members will join SGDF youth and go to Kobanê in order to carry out cultural and artistic activities.

MUSEUM OF HEVAL KARKER WILL BE COMPLETED

SGDF Co-President Oğuz Yüzgeç said that they had met with Rıfat Horoz (Karker Kobanê) in Kobanê before the recent ISIS massacre and saw the museum Horoz was building which was later destroyed by ISIS gangs. Yüzgeç recalled that Horoz had invited them to join the construction of the museum before his martyrdom, and said that they have promised Horoz to finish the construction of the museum.

OBSERVATIONS IN KOBANÊ

Socialist youth have been working for more than a month and went to Kobanê last week to meet with representatives from several institutions. SGDF members explained what they planned to do in Kobanê during their meetings with Kobane co-mayors and representatives from Revolutionary Youth, People’s House, Ministry of Health, Kobanê Canton Public Relations Information and War Museum.

SGDF member Okan Danacı had gone to Kobanê with Yüzgeç and emphasized that there was all sorts of work to do for people from different foci and backgrounds. Danacı said that they have been raising the slogan of "The revolution is ours" and their efforts showed that the children of Gezi have embraced Rojava and Kobanê.
